Named after the event that brought about Naples joining the unified kingdom of Italy in 1860, this Piazza is a full of the Neapolitan spirit, and it is just a stone’s throw away from the walkway along the beautiful coast line. A perfect way to end any day in Naples.
Two imposing mediaeval castles, one jutting out into the Bay of Naples, the other just off the shore. The Castel d’Uovo in particular has a very interesting story. As the name would suggest, there is supposedly an egg buried in the foundations of this castle, placed there by the Roman poet Vergil. As long as this egg remains intact, Naples will live on!
Brimming with the finest food in the city (and some would say in all of Italy), the historic center is the heart and soul of Naples. No matter what time you find yourself there, you will feel the energy from the crowds, you will smell the exquisite food, you will see all the italians leaning out of their windows as they hang up their clothes or pull a basket up filled with produce.
Located in the midst of a sprawling villa, once the hunting grounds of the Bourbon kings, it is now the home of some of the finest renaissance and baroque paintings in all of Italy.
Sorrento is famous for its lemons. Some of these things are the size of a human head! The whole town is marvellous, and a walk down the narrow streets, to piazzas overlooking the sea, with the coast stretching out before you, Capri just off the shore. A walk through Sorrento is a wonderful experience.
Perched along a beautiful stretch of the Almalfi coast, its buildings practically spilling down the hillside towards the sea, Positano is jaw-dropping. There is no better way to unwind after a long morning at Pompeii than with a nice cold drink along the beach at Marina Grande, with the sea breeze kissing your face. Stop by the Church of the Ascension of Saint Mary, a captivatingly beautiful church. It is no wonder that it has been the setting for countless films through the years.
