Home of St. Peter’s Cathedral and the unrivaled Sistine chapel, the Vatican is a unique place holding 2000 years of religious tradition in its keeping. The world’s smallest city state and high seat of the Catholic Church, it is also the residence of the Pope. Here are preserved some of the most sublime creations of man inspired by his eternal yearning to give expression to the divine spirit.

Masterpieces of Greco Roman sculptures from antiquity discovered during excavations are kept here. Michelangelo’s favorite “The Belvedere Torso and The Greek God Apollo” from 320 B.C. are kept here. But the highlight is the marble statue of the Laocoon Group.
The 1800 year old bronze statue of Hercules, the 13 meter wide porphyry basin from Nero’s house in a room which has a striking resemblance to the pantheon.
Created by the undisputed genius Michelangelo, the masterpieces of this chapel are awe inspiring.
Christ told his apostle Peter: “You will be the rock on which I shall build my church.” So on the tomb of St. Peter stands the greatest cathedral of the world.
