Perhaps the single greatest collection of Roman antiquities in existence. In large part thanks to the Renaissance family, the Farneses. The vast collection of Pope Paul III was brought to Naples when the Farneses married into the Bourbon dynasty. Now this museum houses some of the finest statues, as well as many frescoes and mosaics found in Pompeii.
Located in the midst of a sprawling villa, once the hunting grounds of the Bourbon kings, it is now the home of some of the finest renaissance and baroque paintings in all of Italy.
Named after the event that brought about Naples joining the unified kingdom of Italy in 1860, this Piazza is a full of the Neapolitan spirit, and it is just a stone’s throw away from the walkway along the beautiful coast line. A perfect way to end any day in Naples.
Two imposing medieval castles, one jutting out into the Bay of Naples, the other just off the shore. The Castel d’Uovo in particular has a very interesting story. As the name would suggest, there is supposedly an egg buried in the foundations of this castle, placed there by the Roman poet Vergil. As long as this egg remains intact, Naples will live on!
Brimming with the finest food in the city (and some would say in all of Italy), the historic center is the heart and soul of Naples. No matter what time you find yourself there, you will feel the energy from the crowds, you will smell the exquisite food, you will see all the italians leaning out of their windows as they hang up their clothes or pull a basket up filled with produce.
