What should I wear?
  • Comfortable shoes, such as sneakers with cushioned insoles, are highly recommended for walking.
  • Both men and women must cover their shoulders and knees when visiting the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Men may wear respectful shorts that extend below the knees.
What should I bring?
  • A bottle of water could be useful during your visit.
  • Feel free to bring your camera, but remember to turn off the flash in certain rooms.
  • If rain is expected, opt for a compact, foldable umbrella without sharp ends. 
  • Strollers are permitted in some sites, please enquire for further details
  • Medium-sized backpacks are allowed; however, large ones will need to be checked into the cloakroom, necessitating a long walk to retrieve them later.
What is not allowed?

Items such as large backpacks, pocket knives, glass bottles, wine openers, large tripods, and big bags are not allowed. 

Photography is allowed in most areas, but flash is prohibited. Taking photos inside the Sistine Chapel is strictly forbidden.

Visitors are required to remove their hats when entering holy sites.

Is the tour physically demanding?
    • The Vatican tour covers a walking distance of approximately 2.3 kms, requiring a fair amount of physical exertion.
    • There is a separate route for the physically challenged. The itinerary is slightly abridged as they cannot as there are a few stairs to navigate. Please send us an email: info@europeodyssey.com if you have  a physically challenged person on the tour. 
    • Participants should ideally possess a moderate level of physical fitness.
    • The tour may not be suitable for those who have difficulty climbing and descending stairs.
Tips
  • Be sure to have a meal or a snack before the tour, as it is quite lengthy. You can also bring a snack in your pocket to enjoy during the tour.
  • We recommend you to book 2 months in advance
Know before you go
  • The Sistine Chapel is part of the museum, not the Basilica.
  • On Wednesdays, the Basilica remains closed until noon due to the Papal Audience.
  • If you wish to climb the dome, you can do so independently for an additional fee.
  • In rare circumstances, the Basilica may be closed without prior notice. If this occurs, an extended tour of the museum and a detailed description of the Basilica will be provided.
  • Refunds will not be granted in the event of church closure.
What is the cancellation policy?
  • For a full refund, tours must be cancelled at least 96 hours prior to the scheduled start time.
  • If a tour is cancelled between 72 and 24 hours before the tour, only the balance amount will be refunded, and the ticket fee will be retained.
  • No refund will be issued for tours cancelled within 24 hours or less of the scheduled start time.
